The Many Faces of Documentation

It’s important to keep in mind that the style used in the help for Apple’s applications is by no means free. The system basically just links together a bunch of HTML. So while many developers—myself included—have tried to reproduce Apple’s style in their own apps, just as many have created a more traditional help system with a table of contents and so on. Here are the two for comparison:
